Childhood Dream

Fascinated by angels at a tender age, Oft...in fantasy I would engage. Gazing at the blue and immense sky, O how I dreamt that I could fly!

Gliding through clouds on my glorious ride, An angel met me on the other side. A spirit all-pure, beautiful, and bright... My friend, my guardian, my guiding light.

"Can I visit God?" I asked (meekly I'd say), Taking my hand...she led the way. And upon seeing my Creator face to face, I melted in His arms in a child-embrace.

Lost in an awesome and ecstasy state, "Dear God..." I awoke. "It's getting late." "I must leave now...I'll be back one day, To be with YOU...Forever to stay."

---Simone Meuse

In the beginning,
God created heaven and earth,
Out of His boundless love,
And He saw that it was good.
But God knew that humankind,
In troubled times, would need helpers,
To guide them...to comfort them,
And bring them peace.
He knew that they would yearn,
For jovial companions to watch,
Over them...to be their guardians.
But most of all, God knew that,
He should send messengers to constantly
Remind mankind of His abundant
Love for them...thus, He created angels.

Song of Praise

I sing this song to you O Lord, My God of beauty and light. I sing it when the day awakes, 'Til the stars shine out at night.

I sing it with the buttercups, Dancing in the breeze. I sing it with the babbling brooks, And with the raging seas.

I sing it with the sunshine; I sing it with the rain, And with the hearts that laugh out loud, And those that weep in pain.

With bounteous praise, I sing to you O Lord, My song is loud and low, But most of all...I sing it Lord, Because I LOVE YOU so.

Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. --Exodus 23:20

Why do I Believe in Angels?

Where do we get our knowledge? What is the origin of these holy and loving Princes of Heaven? Our first and foremost source of information is found in Sacred Scripture, the inspired word of God. The name "angel" is mentioned countless times throughout the Old and New Testament - from the first book of Genesis ("And he said unto me, The Lord, before whom I walk will send His angel with thee, and prosper thy way."24:40 ) to the Apocalypse. ("And I saw seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets." 8:2)

It was an angel who declared onto Mary that she was to conceive of the Holy Spirit and become the mother of Jesus; it was an angel who brought tidings of great joy to the shepherds and announce the birth of the newborn Savior; an angel warned Joseph in a dream to leave at once for Egypt when King Herod threatened the life of the infant Jesus; the angel once again advised Joseph that all danger had passed after Herod's death so he could safely return to his own country; an angel brought strength and comfort to Jesus in his great agony in the Garden of Olives...an angel rolled back the stone at the Resurrection... Billy Graham wrote in his book, Angels: God's Secret Agent, "I believe in angels because the bible says there are angels; and I believe in the Bible to be the true word of God."

We also believe in angels because the Church teaches us important doctrines about the angels; therefore, their existance is a dogma of the Christian faith. Other religions such as Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism also have beliefs in the spirit world.

Furthermore, our great and beloved saints have enlightened us by their many and most authentic accounts of visions and apparitions of angels. Many saints have claimed to have conversed with these gracious spirits...why would we want to doubt a saint!
